As a lean, lap-swimming young man, I was far from the typical stroke patient. Fortunately, Tami Toms is far from the typical therapist. Most of the health-care professionals treating me stuck to the standard therapies, seemingly satisfied to get me out of the hospital bed and limping with a cane. But Tami didn't stop there. Using more advanced therapies, she helped to improve my gait. She also used more advanced therapies—such as Saebo-Flex and constraint Induced Movement Therapy — to get my upper body functioning. These therapies certainly weren't easy. They required loads of hard work, and tons of time. But three years later, I'm able to drink my morning coffee with my affected hand, and swim laps!
